Michigan
is home to one of the most diverse economies among the 50 states. Widely known for
auto manufacturing, Michigan has significant manufacturing activity in furniture,
chemicals and medical devices. In addition, the state has large areas covered by
forest as well as unique geological forms creating a robust forest products and
mining and minerals industry. More recently, the state has seen significant growth
in the development and manufacture of high-technology product in electronics, medical
equipment and nano-devices.
Keeping pace with the old and new is a challenge that is being
successfully and uniquely met by MMTC, a part of the national NIST-MEP network.
For more than 16 years MMTC has been creating and providing innovative training
and consulting services designed to ensure that small to midsize manufacturers
in Michigan can achieve and maintain a competitive share of the current global
manufacturing environment.
